God is still doing great things…..

June 19, 2012

As I am writing this, I am reflecting on Sneaky Pete Saturday.  We had the priviledge to feed 50 people over a 2 hour period.  We made new friends and had a chance to pray with some who are needing a fresh touch from our Lord Jesus.  Days like this cannot be planned and executed by one person.  We were blessed that we had plenty of help to make the day a success.  Cathy Johnson was there early and stayed late supporting our efforts.  Linda Webb, as always, made sure the Community Center was open and ready for our event.  Our friends at Sneaky Pete’s  made sure that we had “more than enough” and reminded me of how some people really want to make a difference in the community.  Our House2Hope regulars helped serve, clean up and showed true hospitality to our guests.  Last but not least, I am thankful that the presence of the Lord was there and continues to bless our efforts at the apartments at Brookside Village.

To make a long story short, I am humbled at the things we see our Lord doing and are excited about what is to come.  If you live in the apartments or have friends that are there, be sure to remind them that they are always welcome at House2Hope on Wednesday nights!

Looking forward to seeing you there!

June 11, 2012

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to let you know this Saturday (June 16), House2Hope will be hosting Sneaky Pete Saturday at the community center at the Brookside Apartments.  This is an opportunity for us to get to know our new friends and family better.  If you know of someone that lives in the apartments, please let them know about this Saturday’s event.  We will be there between noon and 2 PM.

We also want to thank our friends at Sneaky Pete’s for their participation in this outreach!

Thanks again for your prayers and support as we strive to do the work of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

Something We Can Learn From The Kids

December 20, 2011

Merry Christmas Everyone!

I am so glad that you are visiting our site.  I hope and pray that as you read this you will remember how incredible this time of the year really is.  I was praying the other night and the Lord reminded me how much we can learn from our kids.  I was reflecting on a great time watching the kids play together and realized that we can learn lessons for life from some of those childhood games.

The first game that came to mind is “Follow the Leader”.  Ephesians 5:1 reminds us to “Be followers of God”.  If we want to see our lives really make a difference, we have to start going in the right direction (even if it is over or under obstacles, climb or crawl).  The only way that will happen is to follow God.

The second game that came to mind was “Simon Sez”.  John 15:14 (and 14:15) talk about obeying Jesus.  If we want to win in this life, we have to learn to hear His voice and obey it without fail.

The last game that impressed on me watching the kids was “Chase”.  Psalm 34:14 tells us to “turn from evil and do good”, it also says to seek and pursue peace.  We have to chase after the things we want in this life (starting with Jesus).

Basically, the kids reminded me that we have to play the game to “win the prize” (Philippians 3:14) .  We can’t just sit back and wait for someone else to do everything for us.  Every miracle in the Bible tells of someone that took a step of faith believing something would happen.  Hopefully this Christmas season will be a time when you remember that life is not a game, but includes games we can and should learn from.

If you have not received Jesus as your Savior, I would encourage you to look at the verses above and then check out Romans 10:9.  They may help you make the most important decision you will ever make.

God Bless You!
Phil

Where is the time going?

August 23, 2011

Can you believe that school has already started back.  It seems like it was yesterday when we were all looking forward for the summer vacation to get started.  I sometimes look back and realize that I let the “urgent” get in the way of the “important” and missed out on things that should have been done.  I hope that as we all settle back into a routine that we will make sure that we take time to accomplish the important things on our to-do lists and not only get the urgent things that someone expects from us.  Colossians 3 tells us to do everything for the Lord but we need to remember that He wants us to take time to prioritize our efforts to make sure we are doing the right things!  If you feel like you are in a rut with your time, start tomorrow off with prayer and see where the Lord leads you.  After all, that is how Jesus started His day (Mark 1:35).

Be Blessed!

Are You Struggling Today?

June 13, 2011

Hello Friends!

I know that as you read this, that either you, or someone you care about is struggling with something in their life that is getting the best of them.  Unfortunately, many times we forget the first thing that we should do to overcome whatever issues we face in our life.  What should we do first, you ask?  Without a doubt, the first thing we should do whenever facing a crisis of any type is also the same thing we should do when we are experiencing times of victory in our lives.  It is to PRAY and to ask others to JOIN us in our prayers!  The Apostle Paul said this in Romans 15:30,  “I urge you brothers, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to join me in my struggles by praying to God for me.”  (NIV)

I am praying for you right now that you may experience the grace and the love of our Lord Jesus in every situation that you are facing in your life.  Please remember that we have a place where you can have fellow believers agree with you in your prayers.  It is at https://www.house2hope.com/prayer-requests/.

Be Blessed!

Losing Your Joy?

May 16, 2011

As we start a new week, many are hurting and not sure where to turn.  Fortunately, as Christians, we know where our true joy and happiness is found.  It is in Jesus Christ, our Savior!

Now I know that we all have periods where we stuggle keeping that joy and our lives don’t always seem too happy, but fortunately if we will keep our faith, we know the end result.  The question then becomes how can I best recharge my batteries to get through the tough times.  I believe that the answer can be found in Psalm 122:1.  It says “I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD.”  We can encourage others as well as ourselves by inviting them into the “house of the LORD”.

Hoping to see you Friday night at 6:45 at our house!

With His Joy,
Phil
