Where are the leaders?

November 19, 2014

Has anyone thought where the leaders that will lead the church into the future?  I used to think that we all had plenty of time and that things would take care of themselves as we keep moving forward.  Unfortunately we have quit moving forward (towards the Cross) and have regressed and embraced the world and the sin that separates us from Christ.  As I have thought and prayed about this, I continue to ask God what can be done and He continues to point to one verse:

1 Corinthians 3:11 (ESV) – “For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ”

I am now seeing what I heard about early in my ministry when people would warn that programs would overtake prayer; and that possessions would overtake the people; and that political correctness would overtake the power of God.

I am sad that this has happened “on my watch” and pray that God gives us one more chance to turn things around.  It also saddens me to see how many churches are without pastors and the number of pastors leaving the ministry each year (anywhere from 5,000 to 10,000 depending on who you ask).

Please join me in prayer for the many churches and ministries that are looking for leaders and that those that have solid Bible-believing leaders will make disciples to help these others as we work to get the gospel of Jesus out to a lost world as we “introduce people to Jesus Christ and to help them enjoy a lifelong relationship with Him”.

In case anyone is wondering, there are at least 6 to 8 churches within 15 miles that are looking for leaders right now.  Please pray that God raises up a new generation of leaders that will follow the Great Commandment and the Great Commission.

Until next time…
